Lot 107 - Steinway (c1891) - | Est. £4,000 - £6,000

£2,500.00

A 6ft 85-note 'old-style' Model A grand piano in a bright ebonised case on square tapered legs; together with a stool. This instrument has been restored in the past.

Lot 107 Steinway Model A

The case is in generally good condition and has been re-finished to a reasonably good standard. There are, however, areas of damage, most notably to the top of the base arm and there are various light scratches to the front and back of the top lid. Please note the screws are missing from one side of the locking bar and these will need to be replaced. Also, there is an area of damage to the left hand side of the upper lock rail.

The pins and strings acceptable but there is corrosion to both and this will need to be cleaned off. The frame is good and has been re-gilded although the frame lettering has not been repainted black. The bridges are good. The soundboard is acceptable but there are splits forming and these will need repair.

The action looks good but will need a little regulation. The keyboard is in good condition and the material used for covering is modern plastic.

Please note although perfectly in keeping, we believe that the music rest is a replacement.
