Written by the specialists who run the sales.

Every guide draws on over 35 years in the piano industry and thousands of pianos sold through our specialist auctions. Each one is short, direct and covers exactly what you need to know at that stage.

Auction guide FAQs.

  • Not at all. Around a third of our buyers each year are first-timers. Viewing days and the auction itself are relaxed and informal. Ask any question, take your time and the team will guide you.

  • No until the hammer falls, then yes. Anyone can register and bid without obligation, but once the auctioneer drops the hammer on your bid you are committed to the price plus the buyer premium.

  • Read the condition report, view the lot in person if you can, and benchmark against recent sale prices on our past results page. Ask a specialist what they think a fair maximum is, they are happy to advise.

  • Online platforms have a confirmation step on each bid, so you cannot fat-finger a bid by accident. If you do end up unintentionally winning a lot, contact us immediately and we will do our best to help.

  • Yes. Subscribers receive the catalogue and a featured-lot email a week before the public listing goes live. Sign up at the bottom of the calendar page.

  • Specialist piano carriers are insured. If anything goes wrong in transit, contact us and the carrier within 48 hours of delivery and we will resolve it.

Speak to a specialist.

A specialist will walk you through anything the guides do not cover — condition reports, transport, viewing slots, bidding.
