Lot 66 - Blüthner (c1899) - | Est. £1,000 - £1,500

£2,200.00

A 6ft 3in grand piano in an bright ebonised case on turned and fluted legs.

Condition Report:

LOT 66 – BLÜTHNER GRAND

Casework:  Is in generally good condition and will have been re-polished at some point on the last 20 or 30 years.  There are a few areas of damage on seams, most notably to the bass end cheek block and there are one or two dings and dents, nicks and general scratches which you get on these bright finishes.  The top lid has a haze of scratches which will easily be buffed.  There is slight movement – there has been a disagreement between the base wood and the polish on the foldback lid, but this is not noticeable in anything other than harsh light.

Frame and Soundboard:  Are good.  The soundboard has evidence of competently executed shims.  The piano is very clean in this area.  It is Aliquot Patent.

Keys and Keyboard:  Ivory – one-piece – and is in generally good order, a little yellowing and could do with a clean, but is very presentable.

Hammers and Action:  Are good.  This action was obviously re-built and it is of the original L-Spring Patent type.

General Notes:  This piano is in short a potentially lovely instrument that needs very little.  It has the Blüthner characteristics.

This report is based on a cursory examination and is our opinion only.  It does not constitute a guarantee and potential buyers should satisfy themselves about the lot before bidding.
