A recent 5ft 1in Model SG155 grand piano in a bright white case on square tapered legs; together with a matching stool.
Condition Report:
LOT 142 – D’ESTE MODEL SG155 GRAND
Casework: Is in generally good condition. There is one competently undertaken repair to the bass end under the cheek block, but this is hardly noticeable, and there is a little darkening of the white in areas where it has been exposed to the sun, but this just adds to the character.
Frame and Soundboard: Are good – there is a little very light corrosion on the treble strings but this will clean off without any problem and has no bearing whatsoever on the sound.
Keys and Keyboard: Are in very good condition – the covering is modern plastic.
Hammers and Action: Are in good order and this piano plays very nicely indeed.
General Notes: Please note: although this is badged ‘D’Este’, it is more than likely from the Samick factory - the insignia cast into the frame suggests this – it is similar to others from that factory, so it is a Korean built piano in my opinion, which has just been badged ‘D’Este’ but it has the imperial German scale as so many Samick instruments seem to.
