Lot 64 – Yamaha (c1997) Grand Piano – | Est. £2,500-£3,500

Please Note: This instrument is no longer on an ‘A’ frame. It sits quite comfortably on its own castors. The case is in acceptable condition but there are dings and dents, impact marks and areas of damage and of course, the ubiquitous fine surface scratching. This is most noticeable to the rear of the top lid. The frame is acceptable but there has been a spillage around the bass pins – I will try to remove some of this prior to viewing. There is also a certain amount of spillage on the soundboard, which is otherwise good. The stringing is good but the bottom 2 bass strings are buzzing. The bridges are good. The action is acceptable and plays nicely enough but the hammers could perhaps do with re-shaping. The keyboard is in good order, although there is a little sideways play, most noticeable around the area of middle C. The material used for covering is plastic. This piano is fitted with a Disklavier system which lights up upon being plugged in. It is my view, however, that the bar, which sits inside and provides contact between the Disklavier system and part of the piano, is missing and indeed the message sensor ‘Not Connected’ flashes up. This system can either be removed or indeed the missing part can be replaced but please note the Disklavier system is currently not working.
