Lot 4 – Yamaha (c1993) Grand Piano – | Est. £1,000-£1,500 Amendment

This piano has been in storage for a while and the storage was not particularly competently undertaken. The piano has not borne its seclusion well and there are areas of damage, most notable to the top lid and the rear of the piano. There are also impact marks to the front and the area around the keyboard. There is also an area of scratching and scuffing on the underside of the top lid. None of these, interestingly, spoil the overall look. The frame, soundboard, bridges and stringing are good, although some of the damper wires are bent and this is stopping the dampers themselves from settling onto the strings. This will need expert attention, however, the whole of the interior of the piano looks clean. The action is good and functions well enough and has the remains of a factory fitted Disklavier system in it. My advice is that this is removed. The keyboard is in good condition and the material used for covering is plastic. This piano is an interesting project and as I have already said – I would advise the removal of the non-working Disklavier system. There is nothing to suggest it is anything other than a C3 on the frame, so revert to type and make it a C3 once again. The cast iron sustain connector has snapped and will need to be repaired or replaced. The broken part is present with the instrument.
