Casework:  Is in excellent condition.

Frame and Soundboard:  Are likewise, in excellent order.

Hammers and Action:  Are very good indeed.

General Notes:  This is a super piano, plays nicely and has a good sound.

*LOT 31 – YAMAHA MODEL U3C UPRIGHT

Casework:  Is in excellent and unblemished condition.

Frame and Soundboard:  Are good, although there is what looks like a repaired split running under the bass bridge – this is having absolutely no effect on the sound or indeed the piano’s ability to hold concert pitch and should probably be ignored, but nonetheless it is there and so obviously you should be aware of this.

Keys and Keyboard:  Are good – the material used is a modern plastics material.

Hammers and Action:  Are very good.

General Notes:  This piano has a very balanced tone and plays very nicely.

A 5ft 3in Model G1 grand piano in a bright white case on square tapered legs.

Condition Report:

LOT 32 – YAMAHA MODEL G1 GRAND

Casework:  Is in generally good condition.  White always hides its scratches but there are one or two impact marks and bits of damage, most notably at the top of the bass leg.  There is a scuff to the left-hand cheek block and there is a repair also to the treble end under the cheek block – these things are hardly noticeable.  There is a little repair that needs to be done just next to the lock plate at the back of the piano.  Other than that, the case is good.  There may well be one or two impact marks but they are not obvious to the eye.

Frame and Soundboard:  Are good. 

Keys and Keyboard:  Are good – a modern plastics material.

Hammers and Action:  Are good.  It may well be that the hammers could do with a mild re-shape but this is not entirely necessary.

General Notes:  This is a nice piano and quite striking in its white case.

LOT 36 – YAMAHA UPRIGHT

IT IS A MODEL U2

Casework:  Is good but could do with a clean.  There are one or two minor scratches.  This is the type from this period that has an enclosed leg.

Frame and Soundboard: Are good, although there is a split forming on the soundboard, which is having no effect whatsoever on the sound.

Keys and Keyboard:  Are good – modern plastics.  There is a single key which has a couple of movement splits, but nothing more than that.

Hammers and Action:  Are good.

General Notes:  This is a decent piano that will benefit from a good clean and tune.

Condition Report:

LOT 38 – YAMAHA MODEL C1 GRAND

Casework:  Is generally in very good condition.  There are a few grubby areas on the leading edges and the top lid, both folded back and folded forward, has a number of scratches of the type which are only really visible in critical light – these are easy to buff and no problem to deal with.

Frame and Soundboard:  Are very good indeed – the stringing is good and clean.

Keys and Keyboard:  Are in excellent condition – they are a modern plastics material.

Hammers and Action:  Are very good.  The piano plays nicely.  This is a really tidy C1.

Keys and Keyboard:  Are in very good condition – they are covered in a modern plastics material.

Hammers and Action:  Are also good.
