What You Should Know About Schimmel
Schimmel is a German company established in 1885. They came to the fore with a factory in 1967 in Berlin, when they gained permission to make pianos under the brand names of Gaveau, Erard and Pleyel. By 1980, they had built a new modern factory with an annual capacity of over 10,000 uprights and 1,200 grands. They are a highly regarded company to the day.

A Model W118 upright piano in a satin walnut case.
Condition Report:
LOT 9 – SCHIMMEL MODEL W118 UPRIGHT
Casework: Is in generally good condition but there is fade – this is noticeable when the front panel is removed and you can see the original colour on the internal uprights. There are one or two very small areas of mild cloudiness in the polish but these are not really noticeable, so case-wise the piano is in good condition – one or two impact marks in places, one on the cheek block and one on the treble cheek block, but apart from that the case is good.
Frame and Soundboard: Are good.
Keys and Keyboard: Are also good – the material used is a modern plastic covering.
Hammers and Action: The action, which is a Renner action, is in good order and the hammers look very healthy. This piano plays nicely and sounds powerful.
