About W. Hoffmann.

W. Hoffmann was founded in Berlin in 1893 and is now owned and designed by C. Bechstein. The manufacturing is shared between the Bechstein facility in Seifhennersdorf and the Petrof factory in the Czech Republic, depending on the model line.

The result is a piano designed in Germany to Bechstein scales and specifications, built at the very high standards of the Petrof workshop, and offered at prices well below a full Bechstein. A favoured choice for serious students.

The W. Hoffmann history.

1893

A Berlin maker.

W. Hoffmann was established in Berlin and grew into a respected name in German piano making, producing instruments valued for their reliability and their characteristically clear German tone.

1930

A trusted name.

Through the first decades of the twentieth century W. Hoffmann built a loyal following among teachers, students and amateur musicians who wanted a quality German instrument at a sensible price.

1991

Joining Bechstein.

The W. Hoffmann name was acquired by C. Bechstein, which set about relaunching it as the group’s accessible line, designed in Germany to Bechstein’s own scales and specifications.

2005

Three lines.

Bechstein developed the Tradition, Vision and Professional lines under the Hoffmann name, built across Bechstein’s own facilities and the renowned Petrof factory in the Czech Republic to consistently high standards.
