Lot 90 – Steinway (c1996) Grand Piano – | Est. £30,000-£40,000

A 6ft 11in (211cm) Model B Limited ‘Immortal’ edition grand piano in a rosewood case on turned legs; together with a matching stool and a Steinway cover.
The case is in very good condition and the polish method used is entirely in sympathy with the style of the instrument. There are one or two blemishes and marks but nothing of consequence and a little fade on the top lid. This does not in any way detract from the overall look of this magnificent instrument. The frame, soundboard, stringing and bridges are all good. There is a tiny amount of corrosion to the treble strings, but this will clean easily. The action appears to be in good condition, albeit a little dusty and plays with a nice, responsive touch. However, even though this is a 1996 instrument, it will be worth a potential buyer’s time to look at the condition of the action rails. Although, of course, I have no reason to believe that these will be in anything other than good condition. The piano has been touched by moth and this is most noticeable in the bass hammers. The keyboard is in nice condition and the material used for covering is plastic. This is a magnificent piano, a wonderful recreation. If you crave a beautiful early 20th Century style Steinway but bridle at the cost of restoration of the internal aspects, then this instrument could be just the thing for you.
