£800.00
A 124cm Model KU1 upright piano in a bright ebonised case; together with a stool.
Condition Report:
LOT 84 – KAWAI UPRIGHT
PLEASE NOTE: THE PIANO IS c1969.
Casework: Is generally acceptable, although there are various areas of polish fade. There are a few impact marks, particularly to the cheek blocks and on the front edge, and the piano case could do with a revive.
Frame and Soundboard: Are good. There is a single dead bass string – the first E flat, but apart from that, the piano is bright and cheerful. Please note: there is a replacement pedal – the pedal that controls the half blow has been replaced with an antique pedal and a rather eccentric wire pull arrangement has replaced what would normally be trap work – this may be factory original. Either way, the wire is currently resting against some of the bass strings and making them vibrate. This is a problem which will need to be remedied or explored.
Keys and Keyboard: Are good – a little dirty – covered in a plastic material.
Hammers and Action: Are good and everything is working as it should. The bass hammers are slightly different in pattern to the treble – this may well be factory finish, it may well be that hammers have been replaced at some point, but either way the work has been done to a good standard.
General Notes: This piano has faults but it has the potential to be a nice instrument from a very good maker and it has a bright and cheerful sound.
