Condition Report:
LOT 145 – JAQUES SAMUEL BY BECHSTEIN UPRIGHT
Casework: Is generally good – there are one or two scratches on the top lid and there is a small area of damage on the top lid on the right-hand side. There are one or two abrasion marks where the fall has rubbed on the key slip and there are one or two very small nibbles to the cheek blocks.
Frame and Soundboard: Are in very good condition.
Keys and Keyboard: Are likewise, in very good condition – they are covered in a plastic material.
Hammers and Action: Are very good. This is a Renner action, as you would expect.
General Notes: The piano plays very well and sounds very powerful. Please note: it is raised on roller castors or easy roller castors and this gives the piano a little extra height. It may well be that if you were successful in your bidding you would want to lower it by putting conventional castors on it which would make it a little less imposing and the keyboard a little less high.
