A 6ft 11in 85-note Model B grand piano in a rosewood case on replacement legs

Condition Report:

LOT  – 125 STEINWAY 6FT 11IN 85-NOTE MODEL B GRAND

Serial No 39915 (c1877).

Casework:  The case is good. There are one or two areas of damage there is a little area on the music rest which needs to be replaced the music rest is considerably darker almost black and I would say that this is a stranger from another piano. The music rest itself also appears to have been adapted because there is a neat cut in the middle where the pages of the music rest framing soundboard are in good order there are the very tiniest splits started to form in the middle area but these are having absolutely no bearing. This piano looks as if it has had good restoration work within the last 40 years

Frame and Soundboard: the frame is a very good colour and the work has been done to a good standard.

Keys and Keyboard:  The keys and keyboard are plastic. There are quite a number of gaps between but this seems to be the way that the key tops have been put on as opposed to a fault so it is perfectly acceptable

Hammers and Action:  The action and hammers are good there are one or two new hammer shanks which perhaps themselves could do with shaping but the piano is in overall solid condition
