Valuation of your piano
If you are interested in selling your piano at one of our auctions, you can simply get in touch with us, and we’d be happy to discuss the details of your piano and provide you with a free auction valuation to sell your piano.
Your piano auction valuation will be estimated based on what our specialists expect it to sell for. We will base this price on current market trends, past results for pianos similar to yours, and the provenance of your piano.
One example of an estimated piano sales price could be between £1,800 - £2,000 or €1,800 - €2,000 when selling a piano through our auction service.
We will need a series of photographs of your piano sent online with the valuation form to help us give you an accurate estimate. These photos will include:
- A picture of the whole piano
- A picture of the keyboard showing the make
- A picture looking inside the piano at the strings and soundboard (for grand pianos)
- Lift off the front panel to take a picture of the inside (for upright pianos)
Your piano’s serial number will help us to learn more about the provenance of your instrument and age your piano.
This number is usually printed on the frame of your piano. If you own a grand piano, the serial number can sometimes be found on the soundboard.
The number may vary depending on the make and model of your piano. It will either consist of numbers or numbers and letters.
If you can’t find your serial number, you can just give us a call and we will help you to locate it.
Provide a full description of your piano to help us evaluate it. This information will include:
- Make and model
- Whether your piano is an upright or grand
- Colour: ebony, mahogany, rosewood
- Size (grand pianos only): Full length including keyboard overhang
- Size (upright pianos only): Height from the floor to the top of the piano
