A 5ft 3in (160cm) grand piano in a bright ebonised case on square tapered legs.
Estimate £1,500 to £2,000
Plus a buyer's premium of 24% plus VAT (28.8%) on the hammer price.
Ivory: It is now illegal to sell a piano with an ivory keyboard dating post 1975 without an Ivory Registration Number. Pianos with ivory keyboards dating pre 1975 will have been registered with APHA on the government website. All pianos dating from 1947 to 1975 with ivory keys will have an Article 10 certificate in place.
The case is in generally good condition but there are 1 or 2 obvious scratches and these are most noticeable to the rear of the top lid. They can be ignored or will be easy enough to buff. There is an area of damage to the front at the top of the treble arm. This can, again, be ignored or repaired but it will need to be a proper polyester repair.
The frame, stringing, soundboard and bridges are all in very good condition. Nothing more than a light dust required.
The action itself is in good condition and plays and functions nicely but the hammers may well benefit from a re-shaping. The piano has got a very nice, bright, powerful sound and it may well be that this shaping will take the attack out of that.
The keyboard is in good condition and the material used for covering is plastic.
All in all – a decent piano which just needs a tiny amount of cosmetic work, along with a little bit of technical fettling.
