Important information

Ivory: It is now illegal to sell a piano with an ivory keyboard dating post 1975 without an Ivory Registration Number. Pianos with ivory keyboards dating pre 1975 will have been registered with APHA on the government website. All pianos dating from 1947 to 1975 with ivory keys will have an Article 10 certificate in place.

Description

This handsome and rather decorative instrument has obviously been well maintained.
The case is in good condition with pleasing colour and a certain ‘lustre’. The music rest has become detached but is still present with the instrument.
The pleated cloth front panel is intact, but a new owner might consider replacement with a more cheerful fabric – a bright blue moiré for instance.
The internal aspects, the wooden frame, the bridges and stringing are all intact and look wholesome.
The ‘sticker’ action is complete but will need a little attention and adjustment.
The keyboard is in good order and of course, ivory has been employed for the covering.
Please bear in mind that this remarkable old survivor cannot be viewed in the same light as a conventional instrument from the modern era but will instead require care and understanding.
