Important information

Ivory: It is now illegal to sell a piano with an ivory keyboard dating post 1975 without an Ivory Registration Number. Pianos with ivory keyboards dating pre 1975 will have been registered with APHA on the government website. All pianos dating from 1947 to 1975 with ivory keys will have an Article 10 certificate in place.

Description

The case is in generally acceptable condition. There are blemishes, obvious fade, scratches, dings and dents but nothing that detracts from the overall and rather aristocratic general look.
The frame is good but discoloured. The stringing is intact but there is corrosion to both the pins and treble strings. The soundboard is in generally good order but there are the beginnings of a split – nothing to worry about. The bridges are fine. There are a few new strings in the treble.
The action functions well and is of the linked variety – some people prefer this. The hammers would most certainly benefit from a re-shaping.
The keyboard is in reasonable condition but the keys are yellowing and also thinning in the centre section. The material used for covering is ivory.
Please Note: There are also 1 or 2 of the capping pieces, which are included with the piano, missing from the bracket sections of the dual square tapered legs, at the top under the body of the piano.
