You need a very quiet room when playing the delicate clavichord - a small keyboard instrument which 'stops' the string to form the note rather than plucking (like a harpsichord) or striking (like a piano). These instruments were popular in the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries.

One of the recent famous makers was Tom Goff and we are pleased to have in our 20 September 2012 sale a lovely example of his work.
