Although the fact is hotly contested, Zumpe is thought of as the first significant maker of pianos in England.

Zumpe (1770)  

An early and rare square piano with the fascia inscription reading 'Johannes Zumpe et Buntebart, Londini Fecerunt 1770', on a contemporary trestle base. This instrument has been sensitively restored and is in playing condition. Hammer Price £8,800
