DULCITONE LOT 70

A dulcitone is a small keyboard instrument where the hammers hit a range of tuning forks. They were designed and produced by Thomas Machell & Sons of Glasgow.

Those of you old enough to remember 'Listen With Mother' will fondly recall the little musical ditty which preceded the words, "Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin . . . " It was played, of course, on a dulcitone!

We had a good example in our 16th December 2010 sale. Hammer price £380

(see illustration right).
